First Chaos is the current Anarchy Chess season: the Military Chess Set is active, ranked play is live, and rank identity now has borders worth chasing.
Season 1 is not a cosmetic reset. It changes what pieces can do, how players climb, and how a rank can be shown after the match.
Pieces now bring their own rules to the match: delayed shells, airborne jumps, ranged shots, and role-specific pressure.
Season 1 opens ranked play around the active ruleset, so climbing means learning this version of the board.
Competitive progress can show up as earned border treatments tied to rank and season performance.

The piece barely moves, then changes the match a turn later. Its shell pattern turns empty squares into future threats, so opponents have to move before the damage arrives.
Shells mark danger first, then land after the opponent has a chance to answer.
Jets and Helicopters can jump over occupied squares instead of getting pinned behind blockers.
Snipers can remove targets from post, then reload for one round. Artillery fires delayed shells without moving onto the target.
A season is the loop that keeps the game alive: launch the ruleset, reset the ladder, let players compete, collect the next piece ideas, then ship what survives testing.
A new ruleset goes live with the active piece set, season rules, and the board problems ranked players must solve.
The ladder resets, then players can queue, compete, and earn the season's border from a clean climb.
While the season is live, players can suggest new pieces and rule changes based on what the current meta is missing.
Promising requests get argued over in Discord, then published on the Upcoming Pieces page so the community can track what is being considered.
After playtesting, approved pieces and rule changes release with the next season, and the loop starts again.
There are no past seasons yet because First Chaos is the current one. When it ends, this page will remember what changed and who mastered it.
Season 1 is where piece specialties, ranked progress, and ranked borders start to matter.
