Snipers shoot without leaving their square.

The current roster is playable now. Some pieces still move like chess. Others fire from post, jump blockers, reload, or make a square dangerous one round later.

King

Core piece · Leader / survival objective

The King is the core unit of your army. It can move and capture one square in any direction. Protect it carefully, because every chaotic battle still ends like normal chess: checkmate the enemy King while keeping your own King alive.

Movement

Moves one square in any direction.

Attack

Captures by moving onto an adjacent enemy piece.

Special rules

  • Must be protected at all costs.
  • The game ends like normal chess: checkmate the enemy King.
  • Every move around the King matters.

Three ways pieces break the board

Classic chess teaches one habit: capture by moving onto a square. Anarchy Chess keeps that rule for some units, then breaks it with range, timing, and airborne movement.

Move

Ground pieces still claim space by stepping onto target squares.

Shoot

Snipers shoot from post and reload for one round after a ranged kill. Artillery fires delayed shells from post.

Delay

Artillery fires now; the opponent makes one move, then the shell lands.

Movement and range

These screenshots show two rules from the current game: the Helicopter jumps over occupied squares, while the Sniper attacks diagonally without giving up its position.

More pieces are coming by season

The current roster is only the beginning. New movement rules, attack types, and special mechanics can enter the game as the community helps decide what joins the board next.
